Energy of the Number 5

Updated: Feb 12, 2019

All numbers produce a predictable outcome- that's the beauty of mathematics and of numerology! When we can understand the numbers that underlie our individual birth codes (made up of our birthdays and full birth names, or natal numbers), a whole new dimension of understanding and consciousness about our lives- who we are, what gives us fulfillment, our challenges, our strengths, why we are here-- unfurls before us.

"Numbers rule the universe; everything is arranged according to number and mathematical shape." -Pythagoras

So let's get into the number 5!

The 5 energy is the Adventurer, the Visionary, the natural Salesperson! It loves to expand outward into the world and experience everything it has to offer- touches, tastes, smells, sights, sounds, etc. 5's are incredibly tactile and learn best by doing. Represented by fire, the 5 thrives on the winds of change. It is fast-burning energy in motion and needs to constantly be on the move. Freedom is the ultimate objective. The mantra most associated with the 5 is, "Don't fence me in!" Exploration, change, sensuality, motion, travel, detachment, versatility, and magnetism all stem from here. 5's also tend to be good at anything and everything they do.

The 5 is also the number of charm, seduction, and captivation. 5's can sell just about anything, because everyone hangs on their every word. They exude such charisma that others can't but help to be enraptured with whatever the 5 is saying or doing!

Duality exists in all things, and numbers are no exception. The "dark side" of the number 5, or what can be experienced when someone with 5 energy is out of alignment with it, includes being rebellious, unsettled, ungrounded, over-indulgent and prone to addictions (to sex, drugs, food, people, etc.). If the pursuit of "freedom" is taken too far, 5's can very well become enslaved to the freedom they so love and champion. Pythagoras once said, "No man is free who cannot control himself". The preoccupation with exploring the depths and far reaches of experience, and having a constant need for stimulation can endanger any true sense of detachment and spiritual freedom. After all, freedom exists in the realm of the spirit- all the food, alcohol, money, travel, drugs in the world exist merely in the material realm.

Remember, our birth codes are made up of many numbers! Where and how many times any single number shows up in your chart can affect its exact manifestation, along with which other numbers are present. It's like a symphony-- the order of the notes, played by which instruments, can create a nearly infinite number of songs!
